Military Education

The semester grade for Physical Condition is the average of the grades of all examined courses of the semester, taking into account the weight of each course as described in the Curriculum. The final yearly grade is the average of the grades of both semesters. In order to pass, a caded must receive a grade of 50% or higher. A cadet who fails to do so, retakes the examination seven (7) days at the earliest and forty-five (45) days at the latest after the end of the summer semester examination. In the case of Pilots who are in the year of their studies when solely flight training is taught in the summer semester, they can retake the examination seven (7) days at the earliest and thirty (30) days at the latest after the end of the winter semester examination period. When a cadet retakes an examination, a minimum of 50% is required and they are awarded a grade of 50%. In case they score lower than 50%, they are considered to have failed and to be unqualified in military training. A cadet who, due to a health or other serious impediment, fails to appear at a Physical Condition examination or reassessment, is examined within ninety (90) days as of the examination or reassessment date. If a cadet does not undergo the examination within this space of time, they are considered to have failed it.

The final yearly grade in military training (theoretical, practical, physical condition) is derived from the corresponding final grades, which weigh 0.3, 0.2 and 0.5 respectively. This final grade in military training counts towards the yearly grade for a cadet’s overall performance. The weight it carries is defined in the HAFA Regulation.
