Completion of the International Air Force Semester 2025

On Thursday, 18 December 2025, the Air and Military Training Directorof the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA), Colonel (Pilot) Antonios Makris, officially declared the conclusion of the joint International Air Force Semester at HAFA and awarded the relevant Certificates to the participating cadets from Greece and abroad.

The semester was attended by all 2nd-year cadets of the Hellenic Air Force Academy in the Pilot and Air Defence Controller specialties, as well as eighteen (18) cadets from the Air Force Academies of Poland, Portugal, Romania, and students from the Austrian Military Academy and the University of Defence of the Czech Republic. A corresponding number of Hellenic Air Force Academy cadets participated in the International Air Semester hosted by the Air Force Academies of Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania.

The International Air Force Semester consists of ten (10) common courses with a unified syllabus, which are taught simultaneously at all participating Academies in the English language. These courses are:

  • Common Security and Defence Policy
  • Space Applications for Security and Defence
  • Cyber Warfare
  • Military Ethics
  • Propulsion Systems
  • Flight and Ground Safety
  • Meteorology
  • Aviation English
  • Avionics Systems
  • Aerial Navigation

It is noted that two of these courses (“Common Security and Defence Policy” and “Space Applications for Security and Defence”) were delivered in the form of a week-long seminar (Common Module), with the participation of additional students from Greek and European Military Higher Education Institutions and Educational Institutions, as well as speakers from Greek and European Educational Institutions and Organizations.

Through the joint International Air Force Semester, military institutions of the European Union are given the opportunity to exchange students even for a full academic semester, utilizing funding from the Erasmus+ programme.

Finally, it is highlighted that the International Air Semester is the result of a Strategic Partnership and a two-year project, which was fully funded by the European Union, specifically through the Erasmus+ programme, with the Hellenic Air Force Academy acting as the coordinating partner. The Semester is implemented within the framework of Military Erasmus.
