The Hellenic Air Force Academy, represented by a delegation of three officers and three faculty/deanery members, participated in the 70th Implementation Group (IG) Meeting of the European Initiative for the Exchange of Young Officers Inspired by Erasmus (EMILYO – Military Erasmus+) and in iMAF 2026, which took place in Riga, Latvia, from 25 to 29 May 2026, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).
During the event, participants reviewed the outcomes of previous EMILYO activities and discussed the planning of future initiatives aimed at further informing and engaging the community. New activities were also proposed, including both mobility programs and research projects. In parallel, syndicate groups were conducted to further develop the activities of the EMILYO Lines of Development (LoDs). Members of the Hellenic Air Force Academy delegation actively contributed to these working groups, serving either as speakers or group leaders and playing a significant role in the advancement of the initiative.
Alongside the 70th IG Meeting, the International Military Academic Forum (iMAF) 2026 was also held. iMAF is an annual military forum that serves as a working group for issues related to the education and training of young officers while promoting the culture of a common European Security and Defence policy.
During the forum, cadets presented the mobility activities in which they had participated. Through discussions and the exchange of views and experiences, new partnerships were fostered, while the planning and implementation of future activities were further enhanced.
