The Open University of Cyprus and the Hellenic Air Force Academy launch their academic cooperation with the design of a new Joint Master’s Degree Programme in “Security and Defence”

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA) signed on September 3rd, 2021 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the design of a new Joint Master’s Degree Programme in “Security and Defence”.

Major General Antonios Vasileiou, the Commander of the Hellenic Air Force Academy, and Petros Pashiardis, the Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, signed the cooperation agreement in Athens (Dekelia Air Base – HAFA). The OUC delegation included Professor Stavros Stavrou, Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, and the University’s Director of Administration and Finance, Mr. Christopher Christodoulides. The HAFA delegation included the Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Sotirios Vlachopanagiotis, the Dean, Professor Petros Kotsiopoulos, the Air and Military Training Director, Colonel Panagiotis Aposporis, the scientific manager of the program, Assistant Professor Panagiotis Karampelas and Ms. Christina Aidinidou on behalf of the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research.

The New Joint Master’s Degree in “Security and Defence” builds on the expertise of OUC and HAFA Faculty in the areas of security, deference and cybersecurity. The Programme will carry 90 ECTS credits and will be offered online jointly by OUC and HAFA subject to the necessary approvals of the relevant Ministries and Independent Authorities of Cyprus and Greece.
