The Military Training Directorate (MED) is headed by the Air and Military Training Director (AMTD) and is organized with a view to implementing military training activities, supporting academic education as well as monitoring and coordinating flight training, as follows:
Streams Coordination Department
The department operates in accordance with the instructions given by the AMTD and the Dean on military training and academic education issues, respectively, and has the following responsibilities: a) to coordinate and support the implementation of the work executed by the AMTD and the Dean b) to coordinate, support and monitor the implementation of the educational program and the activities of the Streams, as well as to cater for the general training program in accordance with the instructions provided by the Dean and the AMTD c) to organize and implement educational visits and trips within and outside Greece d) to monitor cadet performance, update the cadets’ training files, and inform the Dean and the AMTD in case of a performance issue. Also, to register absences, monitor the cadets’ health status and register course grades certified by the AMTD and the Dean e) to compile the weekly (military training and academic education) program according to the instructions provided by the Dean and the AMTD f) to keep a file of the academic curriculum per Stream, monitor the implementation of the general training program and inform the AMTD, the Dean and the Head of the respective Academic Division of any deviations g) to monitor the implementation of the daily program and inform the AMTD, the Dean and the Head of the respective Academic Division of any deviations h) to collect course grades, compile the cadets’ provisional and final seniority lists and submit them for approval by the Dean, the AMTD and the Commander of the Academy i) to inform students about any problems with their studies and, where necessary, plan remedial actions in collaboration with the AMTD, the Dean and the Head of the respective Academic Division.
Department of Military Education
The Department of Military Education has the following responsibilities: a) Organization, design, coordination, support and monitoring of the implementation of the military education program. b) Organization and coordination of sporting activities, as well as monitoring the implementation of the cadets’ physical fitness program, in cooperation with the Dean and the Head of the respective Academic Division. c) Cooperation with the Dean on issues related to the staff involved in the implementation of the cadets’ fitness program. (d) Organizing, designing, coordinating, supporting and monitoring the implementation of the training of foreign candidate cadets for HAFA. (e) Organization, design, coordination, support and follow-up of activities relating to the participation of HAFA in the European Air Force Academies (EUAFA) and the Military Erasmus programme, in cooperation with the Dean.
